Escape Hatch becomes award-winning x2
The night was frigid and the parking was sparse. We shivered and complained as we crossed the lonely expanse of street that comprises the west bank of the flats. “Think of warm places!” Matt, our creative director, shouted into the cold February air.
We were heading towards the Music Box Supper Club, the scene of the 2020 Cleveland ADDY awards- an awards show put on for the advertising industry to brag on itself and and finally get the affirmation so wanted, yet so sparingly given by our clients. (Not ours of course, ours are great)
After reaching the venue, we grabbed our drink tickets, ordered up some brews, and took our seats for the show to start.
We’ve always been confident in our skills- hell, we started a business based solely on that confidence, but there’s something nerve-wracking about putting your name on your work and throwing it into the fray against big agencies with tons of talented folks, big name clients, and gobs more resources than your tiny four man operation. Needless to say, we were nervous.

The presentation began and winners started to get called. Beautiful creative, fun videography, and brilliantly thought out copy were the order of the night. We watched with amusement and were thoroughly impressed with the creative might that Cleveland’s creatives bring to bear. After several categories were gone through, “Consumer Website” was called. This was it, our category!

WOOHOO! We won back-to-back awards! We didn’t get to make a big Oscars-style speech so I suppose this will have to do:
